Polar bears are one of the great wonders of the animal world. In this BBC clip, a mother bear takes her cub on his first seal-hunting expedition. It’s fascinating to watch her spread her weight so as not to break through thin ice, and, of course, the cub is as adorable as all baby animals.
The bears are losing ground (or, more accurately, ice) thanks to us humans. This one has a radio collar so her movements can be tracked. It’s part of a conservation effort.
Somehow that conjures up images of turnabout. Maybe some day the intelligent creatures with whom we share the planet will put radio collars on us in an effort to watch our movements and figure out why we’re so contrary.
