Baby chimp takes first steps

In Jane Goodall’s sanctuary in Gombe Stream National Park in Tanzania, Flint, a baby chimp, takes his first steps.

Jane Goodall arrived in Tanzania in 1960. Though she had no prior training in primate behavior, she began quietly and patiently observing. Thanks to her dedication, we understand more about the similarities between chimpanzees and humans—including the interweave of light and dark, generosity and selfishness, peacefulness and violence.
