You can’t start them too soon

A dear friend in Seattle, Judith, sent links to three-year-old Samuel Chelpka reciting poems by Billy Collins and Alfred, Lord Tennyson. I was dumbfounded. Samuel doesn’t just repeat the words. He recites the poems with feeling, rhythm, and understanding far beyond his years.

Judith has years of experiencing nurturing young minds. Her keen observation after watching young Samuel: “Personally, I love that he has this amazing gift, yet is playing with very developmentally appropriate toys, costumes, etc.”

Here’s Samuel reciting “Walking Across the Atlantic” by Billy Collins. And here’s a link to an interview with Samuel and his mother on ABC.
